We are currently accepting applications for our 2013-14 school year commencing on October 5, 2013.  The next application deadline is May 10.

Qualified applicants may be invited to Dell'Arte for a callback audition.   Applicants not invited to Dell'Arte for a callback may be offered a spot in our one-year Professional Training Program (PTP), which runs concurrently and is integrated with the first year of the MFA. Graduates of the PTP may apply for matriculation into the second year of the MFA.

We will invite up to 10 students into the first year of the MFA.

If you are interested in being considered for the class of 2013-14 please apply online as soon as possible. Once you apply you will benefit from application deadline reminders, application status updates, and support in completing the application process. Once we receive your initial application you will be asked to submit:

All audition materials and any questions should be submitted to admissions@dellarte.com.

Audition:

Dell'Arte International is a school of devised physical theatre, therefore we want to see your ability to make an orginal piece of work that includes these elements in any order you like:
  1. A song
  2. At least one phrase of 10 movements that travel from one point to another and back
  3. Two contrasting monologues
  4. Your life story

We value the transformative actor and the principles of rhythm and pace, volume and dimension, time and timing, duration and weight, line of force, contrast, interruption, and discovery.

  • Please do not stand and tell us your life story, incorporate it into your piece with the other elements
  • If you submit a video, shoot it without cuts. Camara movments are fine (zoom, pan, dolly, etc.)
  • Auditions should be no more than 5 minutes.

To present your audition at Dell'Arte contact our Admissions office at admissions@dellarte.com or you may submit your audition by video.

VIDEO AUDITION TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL
Please submit your video in one of the following formats:
  • Emailed to our Office of Admissions at admissions@dellarte.com (25mb max file size)
  • Uploaded online (ie hosted on YouTube/Vimeo or another sharable online video platform)
  • Mailed, in DVD format, to Video Audition, PO Box 128, Blue Lake CA 95525. (DVD platform)
For emailed or embedded submissions please include the following materials via email:
  •     URL address of your video (double check the link works)
  •     Alink to your website (if you have one)
  •     Your email address (if different from the one you are sending from)

Statement of Purpose
:

The statement of purpose should express that which is
at the heart of what you are searching for. Why do you want to train at Dell'Arte? To what end do you hope to apply this training? How would this training fit into your life at this point in time?

3 Letters of recommendation:

It is best if former teachers, directors, or professional collaborators send your letters of recommendation.

All emailed letters of recommendation should be sent from a professional email address (.edu for example). We would prefer not to receive letters of reference emails from gmail.com, yahoo.com, aol.com, or other such private email providers.

We are interested in knowing your strengths as a transformative actor, a generative theatre artist, a mover, and an ensemble player. We also ask for areas of improvement and your capacity for change. Please contact our Office of Admissions at admissions@dellarte.com with additional questions.

Resume:

Your resume should include any performance, directing, writing, and devising experience, training, skills, and other such things that you feel are pertinent.

Photo:

Your photo should provide an up-to-date image of who you are, such that we might recognize you upon meeting you in person.

Financial Plan:
