United States Government Funding for U.S. Citizens:
U.S. citizens interested in Federal Student Aid are advised to start the Federal Aid process promptly in order to know what level of aid will be available to them. To determine your eligibility for Federal Grants and Loans complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
For the MFA program, the Dell'Arte School is authorized to participate in Federal Stafford Student Loans and Graduate PLUS Loans. The maximum Stafford Loan amount for which an MFA student at Dell'Arte can qualify is $20,500 per year. Graduate PLUS Loans cover up to the annual “Cost of Attendance”—$30,000 to $32,000. Loan fees of 3% are deducted from all loans before disbursement. Individual circumstances will determine each student's actual loan eligibility. Loans for each year are disbursed in two payments, the first at the beginning of the year, and the second after half of the year has been completed. Awards in excess of school costs are disbursed to the student for living expenses.
United States Government Funding for Foreign Citizens:
Foreign Students from over 150 different countries may qualify for funding from the U.S. Government through the Fulbright Scholarship for Foreign Students program. To see if funding is available for citizens from your country and for application information please visit the Fulbright for Foreign Students website.
Government Funding from other countries:
Many countries have government funding for their citizens to study abroad. These are a few of the programs that Dell’Arte Students have used to fund their education at Dell’Arte International. This is not a definitive list, if you do not see your country listed please check with your government to see if there is funding for study at accredited U.S. institutions.
Canada:
Calgary Animated Objects Society Canadian Scholarship (CAOSCS):
-Calgary Animated Objects Society, or CAOS, is a Canadian arts group dedicated to the arts of mask, puppetry and animated objects, and produces the biennial International Festival of Animated Objects. www.animatedobjects.ca
-CAOS was founded in 2003 by Dell'Arte grad Xstine "Face" Cook, who is the current Artistic Director and Festival Curator. Face also co-founded Calgary's Green Fools Theatre in 1991.
The Scholarship:
-A $4000US scholarship to be applied toward tuition, awarded annually in May to a Canadian citizen with exceptional potential and financial need who has been accepted into the Professional Training Program or the MFA in Ensemble Based Physical Theatre.
-The CAOSCS scholarship is prioritized for artists working in the realm of puppetry, mask or animated objects, but welcomes all Canadian candidates with a financial need to apply.
-At the end of the academic year, the successful candidate is requested to submit a short video clip showcasing the results of her/his studies, for CAOS to post on its website.
-This scholarship was made possible through a partnership between CAOS and Dell'Arte.

Canadian citizens who have a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) may be able to use it to pay for their education at Dell’Arte. If you have a RESP and would like more information please contact our Director of Admissions, Joe Krienke.
Denmark:
Danish citizens may qualify for funding through the Danish Government SU (State Education) program.
Sweden:
Swedish citizens may qualify for funding through the Swedish Government’s Centrala studiestödsnämnden (CSN).
Carlo Mazzonne-Clementi Memorial Scholarship ($12,250-$17,250):
One full-scholarship awarded annually in May to a non-U.S. Citizen with exceptional potential who has been accepted into the Professional Training Program or the MFA in Ensemble Based Physical Theatre. Paduan-born Carlo Mazzone-Clementi was a contemporary of Marcel Marceau, Dario Fo, and Jacques Lecoq and worked with them before making his pilgrimage to the U.S. in the 1950’s. With Jane Hill, Mazzone-Clementi co-founded Dell’Arte in Humboldt County based on the belief that creativity blossoms in an non-urban setting and that nature is the best teacher of the dynamics of theatre. Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) National Scholarships:
- A $6000 scholarship awarded annually to an Irene Ryan Competition finalist or their scene partner at the KCACTF National Festival in Washington D.C. This scholarship is applied toward tuition for our one year Professional Training Program, or the first year of Dell’Arte’s three year MFA in Ensemble based physical theatre. This scholarship also includes a $2000 stipend that may be used to cover other costs associated with a student’s first year at Dell’Arte.
- One Full Scholarship for one of Dell’Arte’s summer workshops awarded annually to an Irene Ryan Competition finalist or their scene partner at the KCACTF National Festival in Washington D.C. This scholarship also includes a housing and travel stipend.
