Zuzka Sabata sought political asylum in the U.S. from communist Czechoslovakia with her parents as a child.  She was raised in California and lived in post-communist Czechoslovakia as a teenager.  She began performing in San Francisco while attending San Francisco City College and received an MFA degree in Ensemble Based Physical Theatre from Dell'Arte in 2008.  Currently, she works at Dell'Arte as the Community Programs Manager.  In recent years she has led a Theatre Residency for all grades at Burnt Ranch Elementary School and taught physical theatre at Colfax High School and the Nevada City School of the Arts in California.  She has produced various street theatre projects with community members of all ages in Grass Valley and San Francisco. Currently she does seasonal labor on local organic vegetable farms in Humboldt County as well as volunteering for numerous community events.  She performs in local theatres and is a member of the community brass band Bandemonium, a community gamelan group which plays music of Indonesia, and is the lead singer of The Brendas, an all-girl bluegrass band.
